Need help - photo id

My son, 16 years old, got his 1 485 approved and he has been asked to come in for biometrics.

The issue I have is his passport has expired and we have applied for the extension so the old passport is not with us.

The question is what kind of ID will be acceptable to a 16 year old? He has his valid advance parole and his school photo id. Will that be good enough? Appreciate if any one has any suggesttions.

Can you take a letter verification from the school stating that the school photo id belongs to your son. Does he have a driver's permit? That could work since its issued by the state.

Thanks for taking the time.

The permit is issued only after completing 16 and my son has not completed. The school id has his photo in it. Would it not be good enough?

I don't know if the school id will work. But to be on the safe side I would take a notarized letter from the school principal stating that the photo student id is indeed of your son. Its just an extra precaution if you don't want to refused. Is your son going to turn 16 very soon. If so, see if you can postpone the biometrics still he either turns 16 or until he gets his passport whichever comes first.

If possible, go to the service center a couple of days earlier and check if they will accept the student photo id. They will tell you if that's acceptable or not.

Hi Minn Labor

I talked to the USCIS officer over the 800 number. He told me that Advance Parole is good enough. Thanks for your time.
