If you stole from your employer I can advise that this is not a minor offence, well not in the UK anyway, not sure about the USA it depends if they class it as a crime of moral perpitude and you were over the age of 18 years
It is one thing to seal a packet of sweets as a child , but once a child reaches the age of 10 years they are resposible for their own actions.
To steal from employer carries 5-10 years iin the UK
