I need some advice.

I was in United states between 1975 to 1980 stayed for five full years as legally required, now again I am legal immigrant in USA from August 2006 in the US for the last two years.

I need help, to know:-Can I apply for citizenship from my previous stay with my present status ? If yes how.. I would really appreciate any help ...

As was mentioned on the other forum - you cannot apply for US citizenship based on your past residency. When you departed in 1980 and stayed out for a year, you automatically broke the continous residency required for naturalization. Not to mention you also lost the permanent residency status due to abandonment.

You can apply either 3 years after August 2006 if you got your 2nd green card through marriage to a US citizen - or 5 years after August 2006 if you obtained the green card through other means.
