need help advice with EAD expiring soon !!!

Hi everyone!
My EAD expires next week, on oct. 13 2006. I've sent in june 21 2006 I-765 paperwork, and received receipt. I got my FP done on beggining of july 2006. In a meantime my status has changed, I sent my I-485 application to USCIS, and received receipt for that, also got my FP done. On september 21 i sent my new I-765 based on my pending I-485. The question is what can I do to get temporary, interim EAD card before mine will expired. I went to chicago local office, but they told me they don't issue interim EAD anymore ! I called my central office where my I-765 was sent and they told me I should be able to get interim EAD from chicago.
I'm really confused and need some advise. There was a public notice sent, that local offices won't be producing iterim EADs anymore. But then when you go on USCIS.gov , they say chicago office is producing interim EADs.
Can anyone help me with this issue? Maybe someone has a similar situation?
I have my lawyer working on it, hopefully will be able to figure it out before is too late.

Hi,

I have an infopass appt on Oct 20th for requesting an interim EAD at USCIS chicago. I hope i dont go through the same experience. Are you sure they are not issuing interim EAD's anymore?. Did you pursue and plead your case to them?.

In case they dont issue interim EAD. Can we do it in person at the National service center?.

I'm not sure about interim EADs. That's why I'm taking lawyer with me, so we can push harder.
I got couple mixed messages on this issue and since this is something new, I could'n get straight answers. Hope you'll have better expirence.
I'll post my findings next week, because I'm going to immigration sometimes next week.
