My parents and I have been waiting for our green card for many many years. We had L1/L2 Visa before we filed for I 485. We have I485 right now and recently had our finger prints done AGAIN.
Here is the problem:
I went back to China in 1999 with AP and received I 94 when i re-entered US. It says INDEFINITE on my I 94. and also ADJUST STATUS under Purpose section
i am currently a student at a California state university. They had to verify my residency status every year. I have used this I -94 for the past 5 years for my school and they all came back to be valid.
My school asked me to provide the I 94 again this year, which i thought it was no big deal since i had been doing this every year. BUt the result from USCIS says My I 94 was expired in year 2000 ( exactly 1 year from my re-entry date in 1999).
I am very very confused right now,
1. how can it be expired if it says "indefinite" and
2. if it was expired in 2000 then how come it was ok for the past 5 years?
I made an appointment with local INS next monday...
Do u think whoever verified this year made a mistake? and can they renew or issue me a New I 94?
