Need Advice Urgently: Is A# needed for filing re-entry permit?

Hi,

I am planning to apply for a re-entry permit but have not as yet received my welcome notice or green card. I also did not receive an A# at the POE.

1) Can I still apply for the re-entry permit. The 1st question on I-131 is the re-entry permit
2) Are there any other documents they will accept in lieu of the A#
3) Should I get an InfoPass appointment and go to my local Service center to get the A#. Do they generally give it to you at the time of the appointment? If not, how much longer does it take to get the A#
4) Can I call any number and get the A# over the phone?
5) Also, how long after application of the re-entry permit, is the appointment for the biometrics?
6) Does the biometrics have to happen in the same city. I am planning to travel and will be leaving out of the country from the east coast. I am presently in the Mid-West. Can I walk-in and do my biometrics at any other city's application service center, once I have received the appointment for the biometrics

Thanks in advance!

Your A# is composed with an "A" and the 9 digits of your <Registration number> on your IMMIGRANT VISA.
It should be Axxx-xxx-xxx
You can apply for a reentry permit with your temporary I-551 ( IMMIGRANT VISA)

Thanks for your response. But the registration number is only 8 digits and is not prefixed by the letter A. Also I dont seem to have it on the I130 approval notice and the officer at the POE did not give me one. Can I still apply for re-entry permit? Or should I call/visit the Application Service Center?

Thanks!

It will be on your immigrant visa or I-485 approval notice. If it has only 8 digits, add a zero in the front of it.
