I am writing for my mother who is an illegal immigrant with an expired B-2 visa. Recently she was told by a family friend to apply for this new act I-678 for temporary visa for people who came before 1982, but she she came in '92. These guys who are doing it for her are altering it so it looks as thought she came in '81. Now she got a letter saying she has to come for an interview and to bring documents that support her coming here in '82. Her sister is also trying to sponsor her but that will take 6 more years. If she gets denied for the temporary visa will they deny her if her sister can sponsor her?? Will she get in trouble? We don't know what to do! :(

What she is doing is VERY risky, and to put in legal words is illegal and by law is called fraud because she is using fraudulent information. Even is another person who is doing so is with her consent.
If she gets denied, she should be put in deportation procedures. I said "should" because that is what the law says unless she has the right to appeal the final decision. The petition that your aunt file for her doesn't give her any status, is just that a petition from your aunt to her.
