I have invited my father to visit me since my mother passed away very recently and he is alone in India. I am his only child. He has no other children in India. He is a retired state government officer getting pension and having property.

A common question asked at POE is "what is the reason of your visit?". Should he gives the true reason as i.e " I am coming here to comfort my daughter who has lost her mother and to get some comfort for myself after loosing my wife, we can comfort each other and overcome the grief. I am getting pension and owning property, I intend to return back after overcoming the inital grief".

Would such an answer result in immigration officer at POE to not give 6 months stamp on his passort?

Or else should he just say that he is on a vacation?

Thanks for your advice.

well keep things simple, say to visiting daughter.

The longer the reason, and newr more close the scrutiny, since ur father no longer seems to have obvious ties to India, POE officer may deny entry.

Be honest, but keep simple. If asked, explain in more detail. You will not be denied entry because you have no ties.
