Wife\'s fingerprints done Nov/00
My fingerprints not done until Jan/01
Approved 03/22/01.

My case was rather weird and here\'s the details.

I am the primary applicant and yet my finger print notice didn\'t come till 3 months after my wife\'s. I already figured this was bad news as it turned out to be.

Events were as follows.
1) Did fingerprints.
2) Called FBI to verify that fingerprints had been sent to CSC
3) Waited 1 week and called CSC. Was told by officer that fingerprints had been received, case assigned to officer and I should have answer in a week to 2 weeks. Wow!! Was I happy
4) Called IIO one week later to check status. Answer now is "Case is not with an officer it is in a clearing area waiting to be assigned. Will be assigned shortly". Now I\'m a bit worried about the different answers. But using my great logical mind I figure theres a simple solution to this predicament. I will wait a week, call a third time and will know from that answer which of the first two answers were correct.
5) Wait a week and call again. Now I\'m told the dreaded "Finger prints have not been received yet" Now I\'m really worried.
6) Waited a couple of weeks, call, get same answer, wait a couple of weeks, call get same answer. All of the officers are nice on the phone.
7) Get a very nice officer who spends time looking through all systems and verifies that fingerprints are in secondary system, but they show as having been received in December/00, when I didn\'t do my fingerprints until January/01. Now I figure the dates are screwed up and this has caused me to fall in between the cracks. (I am sure there is some sort of dating system by which they go through and move fingerprints from one system to the other.)
8) Continue to get the same answer from IIO officers.
9) 1 1/2 weeks ago get a very nice officer, and calmly and clearly I explain the situation, the discrepencies in the dates and the fact that this has me very worried. She looks in system agrees that dates are odd and says she will look into it.
10) Don\'t expect answer but next day get a voice-mail that she is looking into the case.
11) A week goes by and I have given up all hope. Get a call out of the blue. Our cases have been approved!!

At all times I was pleasant and courteous to the officers and clearly explained the situation and why I was worried. At no time did I ever have a problem with an officer.

So I just wanted to let you know that the IIO officers will respond in kind to the manner in which you talk to them. And there are officers out there who will go above and beyond for cases which have fallen through the cracks. You just have to be pleaant and courteous and clearly explain the situation. They won\'t always give you the answer you want, but if you case merits a further look, with persistence you will eventually reach an officer who will take the initiative.
