NC not completed panic or not yet?

i just talked to an IO earlier today and according to him we are waiting for "one last background check" and then i'll be scheduled for interview. He made it sound like it's something very common, but my NC was inititated on Dec 17. So, now it's over 3 months (3m 1 day to be exact). Am i in the black hole or is there still a chance that it will be completed soon?
in spite of this bad news, i went to the mailbox today as hopeful as always, how crazy is this?

thedeepsea, i called exactly 1 month ago (at the NC 2 months anniversary) and same response. So, i guess i should believe it.... if both my husband and i are in the 1% then it is not actually 1%, or else what an unlucky coincidence

Will doing an InfoPass help expedite processing in any way ? Is there a minimum time you need to wait before requesting an InfoPass ?

Finally, what is the exact process for requesting an InfoPass ? Do we have to call the 1-800 number for USCIS ?

you will get the same info going to an infopass or talking to an IO. no it won't help expedite the process.
