Naturalization requirements

My spouse obtained her GC in Aug 2000. She would be applying for naturalization in 2005. So far she has been outside US for the total of 8 months (no trip exceeding 6 months). But, she has completed her required 30 months stay.

My question is:
Does the total time (in 5 yrs) spent outside US not exceed 12 months (365 days)?

Thanks Joe.
The confusion I have is whether one qualify even though they spend more than total of 12 months outside US (ofcourse, I understand that one stretch cannot exceed 6 months).
I am on a international assignment and wanted to know these minor details whether my spouse could reside outside US during the course of assignment. Thanks once again.

If your break your Continious Residence Requrement, a partial credit is given to the time you spent before you broke it. You can apply 4 yrs + 1 day after your reenter (after a gap of over 1 year)

Is your wife planning to stay outside the US after applying? If so, she should be careful to not miss any mail that comes in for her fingerprint or interview appointments. It is probably better (if possible for her) to stay in the US until the citizenship process has completed...

One of the reasons for delays is any rescheduling that is done if an appointment is missed (especially interview)...
