Naturalization Interview

Hi...I am scheduled for my Naturalization Interview in a couple of weeks and I feel like I am taking the biggest exam of my life....this is a very important moment for me.

Does anyone know how many interviews the average officer does in one day and approximately how much time is allotted for each interview, ( I was told, on my paperwork, to expect to spend two hours but I am sure that is just an overstatement )......

I am just being curious, I know this has no relevance but it is an interesting aspect of the process.

My interview is being held in Oklahoma City and I have seen very few posts regarding this location for immigration.

2 Hours would be if there were a lot of discrepencies in the application. Mine took I think 15-20 mins. I see from others that this is about the average time for the interview.

In Dallas, they are typically 15-20 minutes. They seem to be scheduled using that assumption.

Perhaps if they see an application with lots of red flags (close to the continuous residence or physical presence rules, lots of "yes" answers, etc.) they allocate more time for the interview.

Relax, learn the answers to the questions, and go into the interview with a positive attitude. Good luck

I filed my I-485 + Employment Authorization request in Oklahoma City back in 1998. It seemed like a smaller DO. At that time they were swiftly processing Adjustments of Status (3 months in average). I wish I had not left Oklahoma, it would have taken 3 months to process my request instead of over 2 years.

Although I do not have N-400 experience of the OKC office, I would expect that things go fast.

In our case even though my spouse and I had our appt times at 9:35 am (we both had the same appt times), and we got in at 9:05 am, my wife was called in almost right away, around 9:15 am and her interview took about 15 to 20 minutes (I believe dependent wife's are easy interviews because their cases are very simple). I, on the other hand was called in at around 9:45 or 10:00 am and my interview lasted almost 35 minutes because in my case I had left my GC sponsoring employer 3 months after getting the GC (was laid off). He asked me if my wife was a citizen and I told her that she had just been interviewed on the same day and told him the time. He asked me if she had passed and who interviewed her and I told him that she had passed and gave him the name of the DO that interviewed her.

We left the Service Center/DO office at around 10:40 am with both our interviews successfully done. So we were there for a total of about 1 hour and 35 minutes, which matches closely with the expectation they have set of 2 hours.

Good luck with your interview!!
