Naturalization and upcoming India trip

However, I am thinking what will be the next step? Once they arrest you, you call the state government (or consulate) - get representation and then ... will they deport you back to US / Australia? Interesting line of thought...
I am not sure about India, but I know what would happen in my birth country: they would bring you to the interrogation room and say, "You can pay us a 'fine' on the spot or we will arrest you and you will miss your flight." Sure, you can request a consular assistance, but you would miss your flight anyway and lose $$ on new tickets. Also, since you used this country's passport to enter the country, the US consular officials may not even do anything to help you. So, anyone in the right mind would just pay this unofficial fine and be done with it. From what I have heard from my Indian colleagues, I assume this situation is possible in India too. Am I wrong?

Guys,

Maybe people should follow the laws of their native countries along with US laws, so that no on creates an international scene. I often travel with my Israeli passport plus another international passport access book, because I don't want problems, especially being detained won't be good for me...:D

I like all the luxuries which I have in life, missing my flight because a bad breath CBP officer in some country want to beat me up isn't cool at all... Konig talked about being asked to pay a fine, it is a fine or a bribery? If you travel to Angola, carry a bag full of US dollars, because bribery is a way of life, to the point where bribing police and minister is seen as part of the culture...

It is an "unofficial fine" which makes its way directly into the pockets of CBP officers involved. Call it whatever you will, my friend :) Again, given an option to be arrested, miss your flight and pay for new tickets, most of people would agree to help these border officers financially and get on with their lives.

When in Rome, do as Romans do  Of course, it's wise not to put yourself an a position where you have to carry a bag full of cash in the first place...

Carry a bag full of dollars ==> Get caught for currency violation, lose all currency, need some more bags to get out of this...
