Naturalization and OCI

I am originally from India and currently in the middle os naturalization. After getting US passport - I understand that I can apply for OCI card. I also understand that the OCI process takes a long time to get through (2 to 3 months). So lets say I apply for OCI and then while it is in process- lets say I need to travel to India. What happens then? Will I have to go and apply for a visitor visa? Will the OCI process continue simultaneously?
Any issues here? What do people normally do?

Thanks

Yes it does take approximately two months for OCI, and if you have to travel in the mean time you have to get a visitors visa from indian consulate. By the way you can get a PIO card, that only takes few days and then apply for OCI, because PIO card is valid for 10 years and you can travel to India without Visa and also you don't have to pay full fee for OCI, it's kind of a pro-rated fee if you are a PIO card holder. Any more questions we do have a separate OCI forum too.
