Please clarify my question question regarding first name last name. I already applied for N400 about a month back.

I have 3 words in my name.
X=First Name
Y=Last Name
Z=Middle Name

I always had my immigration paper work with correct name as X Y. however I had mistakenly wrote Y X on my driver’s license and SSN and carried it that way for some time. I got everything corrected. This is really not like changing name or something like that, so I did not mention in N400. However in some records it does show up flipped. Is this a problem?

Thanks for your help

One option would have been to indicate this in the "Other Names Used" space on the N-400 form. If you did not do this at the time of submitting the form you may do this at the interview.

I had the same issue - all my paperwork in the USA uses the correct name as A B. My Indian passport (thanks to them) uses the name B A. I mentioned this at the interview (since I did not mention this on my N400). The Immigration Office who interviewed me said this is a non-issue. Just made a note of it and went on with other portions of the interview.

I don't think this should matter much.

If your real name is X Y Z and you only put X Y without the Z on the N-400, you definitely need to let them know that at the interview.

But if the only thing wrong is the ordering, it's not a problem unless the order you gave them on the N-400 is wrong (you don't want the wrong order to show up on your naturalization certificate). For the name check they use all possible orderings of your name when searching, so telling them your name is X Y Z instead of Z Y X isn't going to make them rerun the check.

Yes, it is just the wrong order. However all my immigration paper work has thr right order and uses all three names X Z Y. It is only my SSN and Driver license, that too for some time, now it is all corrected. So, should I still mention this at the interview time??

Thanks for your help.

If all names that were on the SSN and DL are already listed on your N-400 (with the only difference being the order), I don't think there is a need to bring it up at the interview.
