I got an RFE for spelling of my name different on Brith Certificate than other documents. They want evidence to proof that my name was changed but it was not. The person making the Birth Certificate just spelled it differently. Any ideas????

I am in the same boat

I am in the same boat. My name too is spelled differently on my birth certificate. And the funny part is, only the birth certificate has that name. EVERY other document other than birth certificate has my normal passport-like name. What did you do? Any solution to this problem???

RFE dilemma

When you said "I got RFE" did you actually get a mail notification or your Attorney only got it or both got it?

Please help me to clarify my doubt on RFE....

Thanks a bunch

I got the birth certificate re-issued with all the correct information. RFE response was submitted and recieved by INS 5 weeks ago

How different?

When you got the RFE, how different was the BC name from your regular name? Was it like a character missing here and there? Please let me know.

My case is:

On BC the first name is: Kamal
And on all other documents & passport: Kamaal

(so just that 'a' is missing in BC name).

What should I do?

Please help!

osmaniz ...where are you from?

Where did you get your BC reissued? My name is missing in BC which I have NOT submitted, I have submitted affidavits ...

Both parents name on Birth certificate

Question

1. I have my original BC in Hindi with only fathers name - INS needs both parents name. Also if I get it translated from Indian consulate is it valid ? or there is some other INS authorized place for translation ?

2. I have one BC from Indian Consulate in DC - based on their records they gave me one with both parents name . Their records are my passport.

3. I have affidavit from my mother for my birth.

I need to know based on your expertise/experience - which is the best option to take. I have all my paperwork ready for filing and am not sure on this one.

Regards,

Ashrit

I would go with option#2

For me I have my name missing in BC and my father's name is misspelled. I had submitted 2 affidfavits with my application. I did not know if that is going to be ok. I also didnt know until recently that consulate can issue BC based on passport.(This is good).

Since in india there is a rule that allows for change in BC only until the child's age is 15/18. So There is no way to correct the BC.

The only options are using affidavits and BC issued by conulate.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Received an RFE for myself and spouse. Our mothers names are spelled different by one letter in Birth Certificate and I-485.

Like Jeyalakshmi and Jayalakshmi. And Bankajam and Pankajam.

What should we do? PLEASE ADVICE!!!!
