Name problem in Visitor Visa

My parents are comming to USA this week and just observed a problem . Something we overlooked is my moms passport which doesnt have surname(it is blank).However the Given name section has her name as <first> <Middle> <lastname>

When Chennai issued the visa they put this whole name under surname and under given name it says "fnu" .I dont know what this means.

My question is when you come to USA you have to fill the I-94 form which has family name and "first(given)name ".Not sure what to fill in there .Will there be any issues since most of US systems require a last name ?Even though there is no last name in passport can we put the last name in I-94 form ?

well first

'fnu' means first name unknown

so in effect in the passport and the visa ur mom's first name is blank and last name is her actual name.

So in my opinion u will have to put the entire name in the last name section and leave the give(first) name section blank for consistency.

Hi friend wht hpnd to u r problem,i too have the similar problem but case is H1B,will there be problem while i step in US ..kindly give me feed back ..thanks
