Name error on H1B document-pls help me

Hi,

I have error on my first name of my H1B approved document. Visa status is changed from F1 to H1B.My last letter is missing on my first name. This was a mistake from my company itself when filled I-129. My company has already filed for name correction but havent received any reply from USCIS.
Iam visiting India in december and have to attend for stamping in chennai consulate.I have a supporting document which shows that the correction request has been sent to USCIS through my company.
First I would like to know, will I get any problems when i attend for stamping.
I would like to know if anybody has such kind of problems before.

Please help, Iam very tensed to attend in chennai consulte with the problem.

Call the NSC 1-800 # and let them know your problem. They may let you know that how long it will take to correct the name mistakes?

Thanks for the reply. First thing is Iam not sure waht do you mean by NSC.
Second I have contacted USCIS many times and according to them once I fax my request it should not take more than 2 months. But my case is pending since 8 months. I have lost hopes on getting it corrected.

Thansk for the reply. Once I had been to local USCIS office, but there is no use. They said my case should get corrected only from texas service center(from where I got the approval).I would like to know,
If the request letter faxed to USCIS thru my company is not enough as supporting document?

Well I guess that should work, but if you do not want to take any chance go to your local USCIS office and let them know of your problem and tell them that you didn't receive any notice back from Texas center, your local USCIS officer will send a personal e-mail and the issue can be sotted out immediately (thats how it worked for me for a different issue though).
 
Correcting the name on the Visa

My name was written in a single line in the passport so that the first name was read as Last name and last name as the first name. So they issued the visa with this name sequence changed. All my 797, SSN are with proper name. I have revalidated the visa at Mexico. So that one also have the name reversed. Now i corrected it in the passport with proper markings from the Indian consulate. Does any one know how can i correct it on the visa ?

DONT GO TO CHENNAI CONSULATE WTIH WRONG NAME IN UR DOCUMENTS FROM USA. They will reject it outright, i suggest u reschedule till u get ur correct name in the documents.
