How do we know if the name checks have cleared? Both for FP and FBI namechecks. Please let me know if you guys have any info.

FBI name check and FP
My I-140/I-485 were concurrently filed around June 10 2003. I filed a name check inquiry with FBI via the email found in this thread around Oct. 8. 2004 giving extensive details related to my status (SSN, A# etc. etc.). Note that FBI currently does not accept inquiries related to the Name check via Fax or telephone. Only email.
I received an email response from FBI Nov. 30 2004(after my I-485 had been approved on Nov. 18) saying that my name check was completed July 1 2003. I'm not sure if USCIS is consistent as to when they do this check. In my case, its pretty clear it was done after receiving my concurrently filed I-140/I-485. Whether its done after receiving I-140 only is not clear. I guess people check with FBI only after filing I-485 and completing FP.
As for FP, these are done quite quickly (a day or two max) if you don't have a criminal record. Depending upon how long USCIS takes to update their records, you should see a message (if you've created a portfolio on USCIS webpage) to the effect that the results of your fingerprint tests were received within 7-10 days of doing the FP.
