Hi,
Can someone please let me know whether the name check happens before the interview or after the interview?

It's confusing because from what I've gathered they've been in the process of switching it so the name check is now done before the interview. So right now under the transition zone of that, you'll probably get the majority of the name checks done before, but you'll still get a lower % still getting them done after. Eventually it should all be done the same way, just till take some adjustment time which we're in according to what I've read...
 
Let’s be clear on this one.

Primarily as a result of lawsuits, the USCIS changed their policy in April 2006. Quote:

For purposes of judicial economy, we will promptly cease even to schedule any naturalization interviews until all background checks have been completed in a particular case. This will mean cases will not be scheduled for interview until we have both the results of the fingerprint check and the results of the separate FBI name check process.

:) Thanks god i was just thinking that i might be delayed for years pending name check. My roommate's name check lasted for 4 years 1996-2000 till he contacted our congressman
