Guys is Name check means checking affidavits, copies of degrees, the nature of the person's work being performed etc?
I thought these things will be done at 140 Stage.
Some body please clarify.

Chat User : My spouse's I-485 is stuck in name check. Is there a way to find out the present status, and is there any way to expedite it? (My GC was approved last year under India EB1).

Attorney Murthy : It is possible to contact the CBP/ICE as there is an eMail through the DHS and the BTS office on their websites. Also, the USCIS Ombudsman may be contacted to find out when and why there is such a long delay in completing the security check for your spouse. It is best to offer and provide as much information as possible to show why there should be no issue with regard to security problems, like affidavits, copies of degrees, the nature of the person's work being performed, detailed timeframes of places lived and what they did during specific timeframes to preempt any possible concerns, etc.
 
To check whether your name matches Usama Bin Laden or related but nothing to do with your affidavits, copies of degrees, the nature of the person's work being performed etc.

sometimes you don't have to try to read between the lines :)
In a name check they... well... check your name. Against data base of known criminals/terrorists
 
Can anyone tell me when Name Check is started? Is it started as soon as I-485 is filed, or after Fingerprinting was completed, or whenever they feel like have the mood to do it

right after you submit i485. mine was initiated 5 days after RD
 
How did you know the Name check started after 7 days. Anything in particular to look for or call?

you are so lucky. I had to push the lady to tell me why the case is still pending... well you will get something in the mail, blah blah... she would be pissed off if I kept asking.
