Name Check

While we are waiting for the PD to get current, I would want to see if we can do something about the name check delays.

I called INS Vermont yesterday and they say my name check is still pending the FBI check. Anything that folks have successfully tried to get the name check expedited?

Can my lawyer use her influence at AILA to get something done? Any suggestions/comments welcome.

As far as I know the lawyer cant do anything to speed up the process.I am also stuck in the security review

how to ask for status of namecheck?

Supply_demand and others!

Quick question:

Do I just call the VSC general inquiry number to find out whether my namecheck has been cleared (or not)?

Thanks,
Kiran

Should I expect to see a LUD change when my name check comes in?

Everyday I am checking my online status to see if there is any LUD for when I get my name check result. Should I expect one when the name check comes in? Anyone know this?

Called VSC

You will find some neat tricks to reach VSC on this site. Try to reach them and they will tell you.

I get stuck at the option 1, 2, 6, 1, then case number

See my signature. Last update...I respond to RFE and got some LUD. does this mean that i am done with name check (by any chance)? Does everyone goes through the name check process?

I think you almost got it dude!!!

I think you are almost there!! hold tight and you should get it very soon.

here is the tip to call VSC!! Good luck..

Press 1 (for english),
press 2 (for existing case),
press 6 (for case statues etc),
then press 1( for knowing your receipt no.),
enter the receipt # to get the automated response saying blah blah blah and also at the end saying this is the most upto date information on your case and our customer the same info national customer service agents have (i totally agree with this).
Then choose to continue to the next step "press 3" . choose 3
Listen to the options-
Option 4 "if you feel if you submitted together and one of the applications is left out and not processed (don't remmember the exact message text ..but something about companion case "

Cannot trust or expect LUD changes

Hey gurus,

any thoughts on if I should be seeing a LUD when my name check comes in?

good luck

supply_demand,

I am a TSC filer and from experience I can tell you that most LUD changes do indicate some activity on the file but it is impossible to relate them to a specific event such as Name Check etc. Sometimes LUDs do get changed with each step, other times nothing changes on the LUDs before cases are approved. Like almost everything related with this stupid process nothing is certain.

called VSC - told no namecheck info available ...

I called VSC's 1800 number (and the usual options 1, 6 etc ) and when I finally managed to talk to the VSC representative all she told me is what is available in the automated message. She specifically told me that they do not have any info available on the name check.

I told her that I know of people who got this info by calling VSC but she said they do not have that info. Period. That's the end of the call.

Am I missing something? From what I understand reading the forums here - people did get the info on whether their namecheck is pending or cleared !!?

I'd appreciate if someone clarifies.

Thx,
Kiran

They are not obliged to give this information

It just depends on the CSR you talk to. Some of them are nice and they do entertain such questions and give accurate responses. Others are not so good in responding to these questions!!!

Its just luck..but people in this forum have warned against pestering them too much or calling very frequently esp for the name check.
