Hello:

I got response from Senator and found out that my case is under security check clearance. I have already sent email to FBI on 12/07/04 and still didn't get any response. Is there anyone who has the same situation with me?

I sent a fax Oct 22nd, and an email Nov 9th. Still no response. In the past I've received responses in 2 - 4 weeks.
 
Would you mind tell me the fax number?

It seems nothing i can do if case is pending on the security check.
 
is the security check the name check? what is the backgroud (cound be the info. you fill in i485 form) check? I thought security check includes backgroud check + name check, correct me if i am wrong.
 
Name check means you're screwed. I'm in same situation. I got same responce from senator. It will be three years on 01/07/2005. I filled I-485 on 01/07/2002 and because of name check my case is not approved yet.

They need more time. I got my 4th EAD approved today and still i've not seen any updates on my 485 file.

You'll get response from FBI in a month or two via email for sure.

Here are the #'s. I know that they stopped taking telephone calls. But I am not sure if they are still entertaining faxes.

Every single applicant has to go through the name check process.

I completely agree with you, Piyushind, that Name Check means screw-up although every applicant needs to go through name check.
Look at my dates:
PD: June 29,2001
I-485 RD Sept. 21, 2001
I-485 ND Oct. 22, 2001
FP3 Jan 22, 2005
I am repeatedly told by my Sneator casework officer that my FBI name check is pending. I am really tired of that. However, no way that I am going to give up.
Oh, I have too many to say, just don't know where to start

In the email to FBI regarding name check,

pls indicate what details need to go as part of the email, meaning A# or LIN#....

Also some users are indicating contacting senators, my Q;s for the same being

1) WHich senator do we talk to (is it the senator of Nebraska, or senator of Minneapolis where I reside, or senator where....)

Hi, sudmasti

For Name Check Inquiry email, you need include your name, date of birth, A#, phone#, email. I was told by FBI that it probably takes ten weeks for you to get response.

Try senators in your own state (there should be two, I think). you can also try congressmen in your district. However, it is not easy to get Senators or Congressmen to work efficiently for you since they are too busy. Be patient.

I suspect that FBI do the second-round name check ( If there is a first round) after they received our 2nd/3rd FP. I remember that sometime ago, I read a news that USCIS extended security check validation period to 90 days? maybe I am wrong here. Just a guess. I called FBI inquiry line last Friday and was told that they are processing name check of last Oct. Now I saw somebody who did 2nd FP last Oct got the approval. Is there a link?

If I remember correct, IBIS check was valid for 90 days, but FBI check is done only once. But I think the validity of IBIS check was changed to 6 months. IBIS shouldn't a problem (as far as time taken to do it) as it is done on USCIS/Border Security systems.
