Name Check

I got this message from the FBI when I faxed them regarding the name check:

"This is in reference to your facsimile dated August 29, 2004, concerning your immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on April 16, 2003, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services."

Now does this mean that the "time taking" test is done for me or is there any other test that the USCIS does which holds the application for a longer time. Does record check and name check mean the same.

In my case reply from FBI says similar words, except USCIS, Washington, DC at the end. I am wondering why not to USCIS, Nebraska. Also the check was done 12 days after I-485 Notice Date and not after finger prints were taken. I called FBI and FP results were sent back to USCIS on same day of FP. Seems to be Record check by FBI has nothing to do with FP date.

Hi Visak,

My ND =nov. 2002. for I 485. FP1 done during Feb 2003, FP2 done Sep 21, 2004. I never cared or inquired about name check or like that. Is it neccessory to check about that? I am simply waiting for AD. RFE responded July 2004. Please share your opinion with related phone nos.

I am writing to see if your agency has completed a name

application with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services. The relevant information that you may need is
provided as follows:

First Name:

I would very much appreciate your e-mail regarding the
status of the name check. Thank you very much for
your assistance with this matter.

I saw this format on another post and I adjusted it to match my own concerns:

Fax#202-324-3367
Phone#202-324-2399

Mr. David M Hardy
FBI Headquarters
Name Check Section
Washington DC 20535

Dear Sir,

I have filed an application for adjustment of status to that as of Lawful Permanent Resident with the USCIS Nebraska Service Center in Lincoln, NE on XX/XX/XX. My application is now pending adjudication at the XXXXXX Local office of the USCIS after being transferred from the Nebraska Service Center on XX/XX/XX. I am afraid the transfer took place due to non-completion of security/name check by the FBI once my application came up for adjudication in Lincoln.

I am sending this note to you kindly asking for your office to please provide the status of the security/name check I believe the USCIS would have requested upon the filing of my application for adjustment of status. Following are the details of my case:

Name: XXXX XXXXX
A#:XXXXXXXX
LINXXXXXXXXXX
SS#:XXX-XX-XXX
Date of Birth: XX/XX/XX
Address: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Phone# (work & home): XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Fax# XXXXXXXXX
E-mail: XXXXXXXX

I may be reached by phone or e-mail, if you require any additional information/ documents to address my request. A prompt response will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

I just thought it is good idea to check with FBI and make sure the record check is complete. It is simple by sending your query to fax #202-324-3367.
You will receive reply within a month in the form of email. Enquiring about FP results is just a phone call to 202-324-2399 option2 and give A# to the operator.

Your approval is round the corner... Good luck and best wishes
