Name Check vs. FP Check

Hi Gurus,

I know this question has been asked before by "krsh1" but no one has replied yet and I also couldn't find the right answer in the forum. People keep using these term frequently and they are initiating request for name check enquirey with FBI. I have the following questions in this regard and will really appreciate if some would address to these or point me to right thread or something:

1. What's the difference between name check and fingerprint check?

2. I had my FP done last week and result for FP check were sent back by FBI to USCIS very same day. Does that mean they have done the name check as well? If not then does it mean that USCIS will initiate name check request now? I will appreciate if someone could explain how this process works.

3. I have read several places in this forum that name check is done only ONCE at the begining of the I-485 process and Fingerprint checks are done every time you are asked by USCIS to submit new fingerprints. If the most recent fingerprint check has been completed, does this mean the preceeding name check is also completed...If not, how would one request the name check?
