Have any one of you gotten this kinda response to FBI Name Check E-Mail ?

It says ...
".....................................................................
and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services, Washington, DC."

Why Wash DC ? Why not Vermont ? Is this normal or is this a
problem ?

Anyone in same/similar boat ?

I got the same. But when I contacted the Vermont they told that they got in December the name check. Same day my LUD changed...So I think it is standard.

I am responding to your letter dated December 20, 2004, concerning your name check status.

The FBI completed a name check for you on December 20, 2004, and the results were forwarded to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Washington, DC.

Glad to hear you got response

I am still waiting for a response from FBI for my monthly emails starting in Oct 2004. Your response is better news than what we have been hearing... I guess you can now send an expedite request to VSC

When did you send the email to FBI? I got FP on 14th Oct and sent email on around 20th November to FBI, no response :(

Why FBI D.C. Office

Hi Samanta,

I got the same message from FBI by phone. I guess FBI Washington D.C works as sort of distribution center for the name check results and D.C office will pass on the information to the service centers or local INS. In my case, my application was approved in two weeks after I got the message from FBI.

Hope this helps.

Oct 19, 2004

I sent e-mail to FBI on Oct 19, 2004.

However, Sree, how certain are you that this is standard response and not
an error ?

Anyone else received the same kinda response ? Do all responses from
FBI Name Check refer to Wash DC instead of Vermont ?

Why on earth should they send response to Wash DC instead of Vermont ?
Just curious.

VG333, I am waiting for the completion of 60-90 days that was mentioned
in my Status Enquiry response, before I think of Expedite Request.

lot of people have got that response..don't worry..i remember atleast 4-5 posting the same stuff

I received a response that the USCIS has not initiated a name check enquiry. My e-mail was sent to the FBI on 10/12/04. Response received on 1/9/05.

485 RD is 8/21/03 and FP done on 10/8/04

Sumanta,
Did you name got stuck with USCIS or with FBI.
I mean did USCIS initiated the Name Check request for you or you faxed or emailed them about it and they have then sent name check to FBI.

Please respond with all details about Name Check.

yes..need to clarify name check mess...

Sumanta,
Could you please let us know if you were told by FBI at any stage that there was no name check request from USCIS.

Needhelp1,
You are right.....we should know how to get USCIS to act on our cases. I got two e-mails from FBI one in October and another last week saying the same story ...' USCIS hasn't requested name check'.

OK here's the deal

As per FBI Response, they sent back Name Check response to USCIS
wash DC on Jan, 2003. ( I-485 was filed Sept 2002 )

Jan, 2003 !!!!!!!!!! Can you believe it ? 2 years back !!!!!!

Ok, now, I also did FOIP to FBI. Response : No records.

As per Congressman, case was moved to adjudicators area on dec 1, 2004.

Given the above, now tell me, is this screwy or normal ? Is this name Check
response OK or does it indicate Problem/Stuck ?

If this gives you hope!!

Sumanta:

I did speak with VSC IO today and found out that me and my wife seem to have everything on file (FP, FP Name Check, The Dreaded 485 Name Check etc.) and cases have been assigned to an adjudication officer. But she did say that "We are going to process applications in the order they were received. So if there are applications filed before you, then we will first process them." I have a 485 ND of 11/2003 but PD of 3/1999. She did say that "It is going to be first come first serve basis".

I had a LUD of 12/10. This is the day she said "We got your 485 Name Check". After that my LUD has not changed. So it appears that it takes time to see the result even after getting assigned to an adjudicating officer.

Now, we know that we are not seeing such pattern when they approve all 2004 cases. But if her words shows you a light at the end of the tunnel, then everything will hunky-dory for 2002 and early 2003 filers.

First come first serve on what ?

FCFS on I-485 App submission date or FCFS on priority Date ?

My PD is July, 99, I-485 submission date is Sept 2002.

I don't know how much to believe in the person that spoke to you, but
I have ( and with reasons too ) reached a stage where I believe it only when
I see it !!!

FCFS based on ND

I believe she said FCFS based on ND and not PD. Because I did remind her that my PD is 1999. She still said yes still. So it has to be ND.

But you rightfully said, we cannot believe on someone's words. Words do not mean anything in Immigration world. Got to wait and see the result with your own eyes.

An update to this name-check mess:

Got a reply from FBI for email dated Oct 20 saying that my name check has been completed and sent to FBI Washington office.

Thanks to this forum and specially members like sree1965 and xiha who have helped me through this ordeal.

I'm affected by this retrogression and am praying that by mistake, they don't approve my case within 15 days as I am trying to change my job and use AC21 !!

Sumanta,
My name check doesn't say anything about "Washington, DC".
It just says: "This is in reference to your facsimile dated xxx, concerning your immigration status. The FBI completed a record check for you on xxx and the results were forwarded to the USCIS". Sincerely yours, David Hardy

BTW, my lawyer says that no one should ever send more than one name check request. He says they were instructed to do that by AILA. The reason for it is that the FBI responds to the latest request only and by sending faxes or e-mails monthly we only move ourselves to the end of the line every time we do it. He also said that if the case had some issues when they cleared it first time the name check request may trigger "re-clearance". At least that's how he explains lack of answer on my husband's case faxed together with mine four months ago.

I would disagree with your lawyer. In majority of cases (I'm saying this since we have seen that they might not send a request), USCIS would send a request to FBI for name-check only once (after 485 application is received or whenever..). We are just requesting the FBI to check the status and inform us if it's cleared or not and if possible, clear the name-check.

The actual scenario is FBI is processing the name-check according to its own snail's pace. The scenario which was affected by this bombarding of name-check emails or faxes is that they have stopped responding to those emails. Right now, they are almost 3 months behind. As I believe, the analysts are responsible for clearing the name-checks and there is a different dept. which responds via email to our name-check requests.

I also believe that name-check clearance by FBI are done only once. So if it's cleared the first time, then you are all set at least from FBI.

i agree with sb_gc..they do this only once...that why their response is like this..in march 2004 name check was done..blah..blahh.. ( not done again )..
