Name Check Questions

I filed my 140/485 a couple of months ago, got 140 approval a couple of weeks ago, and am currently waiting for 485 approval. I understand it's too early in the process for me to start worrying since many of you have your 485 under processing for years, but I was wondering:

1. How do I know that my 485 case is under name check?
2. Are all 485 cases sent for name check, or is it based on a certain criteria, or is it based on random selection?
3. Is a name check same as background check?

All applicants will have to go through FBI namecheck..some are cleared while others are stuck for n-number of days!
2. Are all 485 cases sent for name check, or is it based on a certain criteria, or is it based on random selection?
Yes3. Is a name check same as background check?
