Name Check Question for Experts

Ok, I just need someone to verify whether my name check is done. Please see my signature for case details. Additionally I had requested my case documents through FOIA in July 2005. I received the documents in July 2006, exactly one year after I made the request. I never really bothered to look at those documents until today.

After the June 2007 visa bulletin came out I started following the discussions on this forum more closely in anticipation of my PD becoming current in June. I noticed many people were concerned about their name check status, which got me worried too. I called the USCIS national customer service center, but the rep. refused to give me any information regarding name check.

So I decided to look at my FOIA documents for any clues regarding the name check status, and I found this document about FBI Name Check Response. Here’s what it says ….

Yes, I believe your name check has been cleared - that's the most conclusive proof, straight from the horse's mouth:-)

The whole confusion, I think is with the FOIPA request with the FBI vs. FOIPA request with the USCIS.

Thanks very much akayal1973! I think it makes sense. I remember reading about the FOIPA request with the FBI, somewhere. As you rightly said, my FOIA request was made USCIS and not FBI. This means that I can rest assured now and hope for an approval in June sometime.

It was me, who started the other thread. Mine is same as yours.
But when I called up TSC, I came to know that my security check is still pending.
 
What is this FOIA?

Can anyone help me with that? I need to find out what is happening with my Scecurity clearance as well. I tried the POJ method on Friday and it didn't work, and I spoke someone at the customer service and they know nothing.

For FOIPA, you need to send a letter to FBI, using their form. (Do a search on this forum - you'll get the relevant URL for the FOIPA form). I got a response from FBI within 2 weeks of sending them the FOIPA Request form.

Regarding your second question: Set up an infopass appointment - the immigration officer will tell you if you're stuck in namecheck.
