Name check pending after RFE?

I got an RFE and replied to it a few weeks ago. When I call USCIS today, they told me my name check is still pending. How's that possible? I thought RFE only happens after name check is cleared. Has anybody seen this before?

I answered RFE in March 2005, i am still waiting for NC clearance.

I don't think your RFE has any bearing on your NC. These are two separate procedures: RFE is for CIS and NC for FBI.
