Name Check - Help Please !!

Hello Friends,

I'm trying to reach USCIS Nebraska to find out if they have already initiated my Name Check request with FBI,but so far I'm hitting an iron wall. The CSR tells me that they don't have any other info other than what I see in the website(Weirdos-why would someone have CSR (Parrots)just to repeat the same info that we already know is in the website ??)
In fact I even talked to couple of people in the NSC(not CSR) and one says that "premilinary processing is complete,hang in there" the other has no idea about the name check and after explaining it to her,she just bluffs saying that we'll contact U if we need anything from U,without answering my question.(I'm no way goin to be idle and just wait endlessly for eternity with these illiterate parrots. The reason I say that is......... in many cases what happens is that USCIS never initiates the name check when they r supposed to and the applicant finds out later after several years of waiting (when they process his/her RD or PD cases) that they have NOT initiated it yet and after our enquiry they initiate it. So I'm trying to be pro-active....

1. Guys can you tell me how I can find out if USCIS has initiated my Name Check already ?(I have already mailed to NNCP to check the status, but then I know,that to get a reply from FBI, it takes atleast 6 months and what if as I had mentioned above USCIS has not initiated it)

2. Is there any other avenue by which I can get this info - any fax#,tel# or Email id of USCIS-Nebraska thru which I can know if my name check has been initiated already ?

3. Also I would like to know how an "No Record"/"Pending" reply for an NNCP or FOIPA from FBI will help me in expediting one's Name Check process ?

EB2 RIR PD : August 2003
I-140/I-485 Concurrent -Nebraska: March 2005
EAD/AP Approved : Apr 2005
FP Apr 2005 (No change in Message, just LUD 2 days later)
I-140 RFE & Approved : June 2005 (RFE - Masters Degree Certificate)
I-485 : Pending

Try contacting the local senator or local congressperson. Explain them about your situation. They should send a congressional email/ phone to the FBI Name Check or USCIS and be able to get the information/status for you.

I had a same issue where I wanted to know what the status of my Name Check was. I contacted the local congressperson and they got the information for me within 2 weeks. I had also sent an email directly to FBI Name check - I got the reply from them after almost 4 months.

So give it a try - You can find your local congressperson and Senator from the following website -

http://www.senate.gov/

They will let you know what details they need after you contact them.

Did you get your FP notice? Usually the first FP will be for FBI and that automatically initiates Name check for your case. If you didn't get your FP then wait for some time. HTH..

Name Check

Hi GCLover007 ,

I had my FP in April of this year which is a Code 3,meaning Biometrics,Photo,signature and full fingerprints. So can I assume that USCIS-Nebraska had initited my Name Check already (OR) Is there any way I can confirm this..

Please don't assume anything with USCIS. I have a close friend who has had all his FP's current ( 2 FP's), but later he found ( through Senator) that USCIS never initiated his Name Check. So such things do happen....

I am not trying to scare you, but just want you to know the truth.Plz don't misunderstand me.

Honestly it may be very difficuly to presuade anyone to do this for your case -- its way too early (your ND is March 2005 !!) -- but you can try your luck :)

Currently NSC is processing EB 485s with ND of July 1, 2003 or earlier (which is about 19 months prior to your case !)

I think they r goin by PD not ND in the post retro world.(I know EB2 is still current but soon to retro....)

Name check

If possible, go to your nearest local office in your district by taking infopass, and you can ask them about it. They will be able to tell you exact date and the current status of your name check.

I did go recently and the immigration officer is really a good one and said, mine was initiated on May 6th, and my husband's also same time, but his result came back and waiting on my results.

Hope this gives you an idea that the local office people can give us some extra status on our case. I feel the same about CSR when they say we cant say anything about the case. Then why are they sitting?

Do we need to provide for what reason we are scheduling the infopass appt at the time of scheduling ? Also do they allow infopass appt just for queries like "When my Name Check was initiated and What the status is right now " ?

What is your 485 Notice Date? Did you get your FP done before May 06? I try to know when CIS initiate the name check normally?

could you please let me know how you contacted your local congressman?

I sent an email to my local congressman but I haven't got any response after 2 weeks.

Did you call them? If so, how did you explain your situation to them?

I don't know why they would listen to a foreigner with no rights to vote?

My Experience, may be wrong.

The congress office stuff in my area is very nice to me. But I believe what they can do is only to call the liaison inside FBI, who can access and check the status of the name checking, but could not influence the process at all.

Does anyone disagree with me by having some more positive stories?

So frustrated because this is so unpredictable ... and feel so hopeless ...
