Name Check for GC Vs. Naturalization

Hi guys and girls,
I have a question; do we go through a name check before getting the green card just like the name check we have to go through for the naturalization process? If so, if we had a smooth name check experience for the green card, could that indicate a smooth name check experience for the naturalization as well? Which process require more intensive checks and tests? the green card or naturalization?

Well from all the stories that I have read here, they are strict for naturalization specially for moral character. Even on INS website they says that you are forgiven if you have worked here illegally or have over stayed to your visa if you are a immidiate relative of a USC and filling for GC. And I have seen those cases. They don't go after even on your traffic violation if you are filling for GC. The condition is you have to be a IMMIDIATE RELATIVE OF A USC.
This is my opinion. Anyone else??

Your past background check would not matter anyway when you apply for your citizenship. Some people apply for citizenship after 15-20 years of being a permanent resident. A lot of things can happen, you can become a criminal or a member of a radical organization, etc.

What do you guys think about the two different name checks ? are they identical for citizenship and green card ?
