Name Check Dates

Hi all. There have been a lot of posts regarding the various aspects of the name check process. However while it is clear that everyone is suffering from horrible wait times, it is not always clear how long people have been waiting for their name checks to finish, especially for new people who are just starting to experience the 'joys' of the name check process. I suggest members, especially those who have had the process completed and still come back to this forum out of habit or kind hearts, post their 'numbers' as well as steps they took as part of the process (letters to NNCP, letters to Congressperson, FOIPA, lawsuit). Also to make this useful for other people, let's try to keep discussions out of the thread - just hard cold 'numbers' to help people gauge how long the process takes/took for others. I'll start:

Name check request initiated 1/04
Still waiting ...
Wrote letters to NNCP as well as FBI senior management and the Congressperson, filed FOIPA (all pretty recently)
 
Name Check Status completed

Hi all

I received an email from FBI in reply of my name chack status on saturday(they were working on the weekend??). Here is what it says

"I am responding to your email dated December 21, 2004, concerning the
name check status of you.

The FBI completed a name check for you on November 5, 2004,
and the results were forwarded to the United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services Headquarters, Washington, DC."

It took five months for them to respond to my email. Another interesting thing is that they have received name check request from the immigration services before even my finger prints were done.

So I guess I am just waiting for the interveiw now. The oath should be scheduled soon after it
 
Hi all - here is my timeline. I am also tired of waiting of the name check.

Nebraska Center Omaha -TimeLine
N400 Application sent: 12/25/04
Application received: 12/29/04
FP Date: 01/24/04
FP returned by FBI to USCIS: 01/24/04
Interview Date: 04/11/05
Oath: waiting...


FOIPA Faxed Date: 05/10/05
Email to FBI about Name check date: 05/10/05
Name Check completed and returned by FBI:??

Could you please let me know how you are able to tell when your name clears with FBI? I would really appreciate your reply. After a long saga with my GC, I am taking no chances in waiting things out. Thank you :rolleyes:

FBI Email format

Someone please post a copy of their letter format to FBI regarding the name check and also please let us know which email id to send it to to FBI.

I know its silly but what is *name check* ?
1) they check your name on terrorist list ...?
2) request a name check from your home country to prove thats you ....
3) .........

how did you find out your name check was requested by USCIS on 8/5/03?
did you do an Infopass appt to find out?

i sent them email on november 23 2004 and they responded on march 28th and they said the they recieve a request from uscis on august 5th 2003 for a name check even my FP were taken on the 21 of the same month

name check will be requested to FBI before the interview. however, it is still an unknown howlong it will take them to complete it. it does not necessary to be completed before the interview as you might have read lot of posts regarding the lenghty name check process.
