Name Check backlog

I just spoke with Mr. Hardy's office (FBI)...after many attempts to call this office few months ago and all I got was a voice mail, I run into this number and decided to give it a shot and surprisingly his secretary picked up :)

So, she said they no longer give updates about name check, but she did say they are currently working on 2003-2004 backlog (my file is there since May 2003...I guess, I am not sure; that's what the immigration office told me over the phone, that the "name check process" starts at the time of my last FP).

So, that being said (that they are working on 03'-04' backlog), did someome here the same? Anyone can confirm?

Also, is there anything I need/should/CAN do to expedite it?

first i would suggest to call VSC once again to find out if your NC is still pending... apparently there was some file sent to FBI in october and many NCs have been cleared... at least that what I was told 2 weeks back...

I called VSC.. and

my name check is pending since September 10, 2003. I sent email to FBI. No response. Waiting.

Well, first of, i think that you guys need to refrain from saying "talk to VSC"; you cannot talk directly to VSC, you can talk to an immigration office, but it is not necessarily one that sits in VSC. Few months ago I was transferred to an immigration officer in Califorania.

As I mentioned, I just spoke with an immigration officer, she told me that she doesn't see that my name check has been cleared yet. I asked her when was it sent to the FBI, and she said that normally the file is being sent to the FBI for name check at the time of your last FP, which was (to the best of my recollection) May 2003.

My name checking was blocked in May, 2005. So it will take how long to see my G/C?

But I am not sure I agree with : "name check process starts at the time of my last FP". This is something I am hearing for the first time.
As far as I know, namecheck starts sometimes soon after you apply for your 485.

What is Mr. Hardy's no?
 
FP and Namecheck

My FP was in Oct 2004 for 485 RD of Apr 2003 while as per FBI email they recd. request for Namecheck from USCIS as late as in Mar 2005. So there is no set patterns I guess.. There have been cases as you have mentioned too...

Nobody knows about this process.., AILA, Congressman, Senators, nobody can help. USCIS has this in hand to play around. After FBI namecheck, USCIS can send for "Additional Security Checks" as in my case. CIA performs that checks??.

One correction here Assur - USCIS does not have "this" in hand, they have all of us in hand to play with...
