Name Check and FP

Wat are the differences? When is name check done?

Name check is done in the background by FBI. The request for it is sent to FBI from USCIS in the first few months of filing 485. They check the name against the possible matches to suspicious names. 95% clear without any match.

FP is a procedure where the applicant provides the FPs to FBI and they are passed onto USCIS if they are OK. These FPs are kept in record in Finger Print Identification Database of FBI.
