Name Check after Interview

My case is straight forward, 5 years PR employer based.

My license has my married surname. So when the interview officer asked me if I had used any other name I told him that I used my married surname on my license. I had not added my surname to the N-400.

He then said that he would not approve my application until a name check was completed. He said that it would take a week for the name check to be done.

It has been over 4 weeks now and I have heard nothing back. What should I do ? Where do I call to get more information and how to proceed ?

Please help.

Technically, you did not follow N-400 instructions to disclose the other names used...It is essential that you disclose the maiden name...

I think you just to wait now...

As dream said, you will have to wait.

However, you can try calling CIS via phone or setup an appointment via INFOPASS. Tell them that you were told 1 week ... you might get some help depending on who picks up the phone, and how well can you describe (push) your situation. If meeting in person, you can offer to leave a note for the IO.

I personally would wait for another 2 weeks. However, no harm in starting to take an appointment 2 weeks down the line. You can always cancel (not show up) if you get a letter before that.

Disadvantage is that it can take several weeks to complete the name check. but try to make an INFOpass appointment to ask what the status is.
 
Hi bobo2000,

Can you update us. I did the same mistake, I forget to mention one name I use it 6 years ago at my tax return, it was nhriz and then I corrected to nharz.
