Hi

Name changes in Naturalization certificate causes some problems on now a days.
After oath ceremony, Before applying US passport and one has to need to change DL (driving licience).
Without changing the Social security card and one cannot change DL ID.
Because, DL data base is linked with Social security. This is happened recently.
I went to post office and submited my US passport application. In post office, they verified my DL and NC.
They asked me to change DL before applying US passport. Then, I went DMV office for to change DL.
They said go to SSA office to change Social security ID card. Unless SSA to change their data base DMV cannot change DL. Then I went to SSA office to change my Social security card. They said you have to wait for three weeks, because, they have not received any information from immigration depot.

Any body have a similar problems like this ? Is their any solutions ?

The post office employee was wrong in requesting the DL in addition to your naturalisation certificate. The Dept of State website states that the naturalisation certificate can be used as both the proof of citizenship and proof of identity. I suggest you print out this page and bring it with you to a different post office location. If they still want another ID, have them call the passport office customer service.

no. I changed my name with my N400. but did change my name first with DMV before apply for passport. SSA card still not received yet.

Thank you Konig. I went another post office and submitted. They accepted my USA passport form.

Glad to be of any help. It is annoying how inconsistent the US bureaucracy can be; in my native country bureaucracy is much more hardcore and evil, but at least it is consistent :)
