Hello,

I need to make some minor adjustments in my first name while keeping the last name same. All the utilities, lease, etc are already under new name. I will just have to change drivers license and SSN. Is it better to make changes now or should I wait until the U.S Citizenship process?

How will it effect my G.C if I do it now? thanks

I changed before my green card

I had to correct my last name, and did it when I applied to my green card.

I was granted asylum by Imm. Judge so his clerk misspelled my last name and I had to live with it for almost 3 years.

SO> before i filed I-485 i got in touch with the Judge Clerk, who was very nice by the way and she pulled my file from the twilight zone, drafted an "amended order' and gave the same judge to sign.

Of course i had to mail her supporting documentation like bills, SS card, DL, etc.

After I got the amended order i just attached it with my I-485 and mailed it, they accepted it w/out a problem. Since then i have received a new RTD with my correct last name, which was also making me buy plane tkts with wrong last name and NOT getting my miles when I flew.

I am not sure HOW you were granted asylum but you may want to search this forum more or speak with an attorney. My attorney friend was the one who instructed me to get in touch with the clerk. i followed his advice and it worked PERFECTLY.

GOOD LUCK!
