Hi,
I will be applying for Citizenship and passport renewal soon.
My questions are
1.I hold Indian passport and have my lastname as my father's first name in passport,ssn ,gc etc., Is it ok to continue like this?

2. What are the advantages in changing my last name to my husband's last name?

3. When is the best time to change my last name ? During passport renewal or during citizenship ?

4. I have in my marriage certificate (Got in U.S.) my last name as my father's first name.If I want to change my name,i dont what procedure I can follow.Could anyone who ran into the same issue,please help me out.I am confused and stuck now.

There's nothing wrong with keeping your "maiden name" (well, at least to me, there isn't). It is the common (and legal) practice where I come from (Quebec, in Canada).

My wife's last name and mine differ; my daughter has my last name. Some folks ask about it, but since marriage is such a transient thing and families are so "mixed up" these days, no one really cares.

Why go through the hassle of a name change?
 
It is a matter of personal choice if you want to change the name of not.
I don't think there are any advantages or disadvantages.
If you want to change your last name to your husband's last name, you can do it any time...very simple process, just use your marriage certificate as proof and update your drivers license, SS Card, Green Card, Passport. During citizenship process you can choose change your name as well. (No court order required)
