Name Change

Greetings,

I will be filing my N-400 application and would like to change my name in the process. I would like to know if USCIS still accepting name changes through naturalization?
Reason I am asking is because I have found some information on the internet about name changes no longer being done. Again, this information is not official and may very well be false.

BTW: Name changes are no longer done as part of the naturalization process. That has to be done through the county court.

There was another source(I only had 2) that i cannot find right now, that basically said the same thing.

I looked over USCIS website and found no information regarding that. I also called the USCIS and asked them this question, they said they were unaware of this, and if it was to be true, they would've known it.

Any comments?

As far as I know it is not true. You can request a name change during the naturalization interview if you like...and it is done through the court system and a judicial oath ceremony. Good luck.

Thanks. I just sent my application to USCIS at 9:30AM ET on July 29th, 2005.
I have send it to Texas Service Center and my sub office is located in Tampa, FL.

I requested a name change and hopefully that is not going to delay the process too long.

Praise the Lord!

Name change experience ?

Anyone with a recent name change experience in Tampa ? My wife and I applied N-400 together and things went normal until Interview. She is still waiting to hear on her Oath Date, while I took my oath today.

Can anyone post some feedback on how long it is taking for a name change Oath Date at the Hillsborough County Courthouse ? Her interview date is same as mine 08/23/2006. This is coming in the way of making any travel plans. Thanks in advance.
