Name Change for Wife - N400

My wife and I still have different last names in our Green Cards (she still has her maiden name).

She wants to change it to mine and hence checked "Y" on the N-400 "change name" selection.

I was wondering if this is OK or would this create any delays in terms of either N-400 processing or the oath.

Thanks in advance...

Checking Yes for name change is fine. However, note that the oath needs to be presided by a judge instead of just an Immigration person.

If all the oaths where you live are presided over by a judge, then there should be no delays.

However, if an oath that needs a judge to preside over the cerremony happens at only certain times....then, there might be some delays till that oath occurs.

In San Jose CA, name change cannot be done via the N400 application anymore....so, all oaths here are not presided over by a judge.
