Hello.
Recently my mother has passed naturalization test(within NYS), automatically I become citizen like she is because of my age(16), and so I'm going to attend the naturalization oath ceremony with her soon.

Mother told me that I can get my name change during the ceremony, yet, neither she nor I really have a clue how the name changing process works during the ceremony. So please elaborate if you know. Like explain to me things I need to do, during or after the process ?

(P.S. I'm going to change both first and last name and my family has concurred with it, can I do like that ? )

No, you can not change name when naturalizing as a minor based on parent naturalizing. You will have to go through courts. Check your county.

You can't get your name changed with your mom's naturalization ceremony. Your parent(s) will have to apply for your name change through the court system, unless you wait till you're 18 when you can do it on your own. Contact City Hall for information about the forms and fees and procedures. You'll be able to change both your first and last names if you want.

Once completing the name change procedure, which may take a month or two, you'll get a name change document from the courts. You can use that document (along with other related documents where necessary, such as your mother's naturalization certificate), to get your US passport, N-600, driver's license, SSN etc. in your new name.
