Anyone has experience or know someone who has changed names during naturalization?

My wife is considering changing her lastname during naturalization. She has marked "No" for name change question on N-400 application but will change that to "Yes" during interview.

Will changing name delay the oath? Any other issues that we need to be aware of?

Thanks a bunch folks.

Doing name change could potentially delay the oath letter since it would depend on whether a judge always presides over every oath ceremony? Most likely....not at every oath ceremony.

If this is the case, then your wife will need to wait for an oath ceremony that is presided by a judge.

Thanks for you reply happigal.

There will always be a judge presiding over the oath ceremony in my DO(I know that for fact) and during my oath ceremony there were atleast 8 applicants who had requested name change.

Assuming there will be a judge at the oath ceremony there should not be any issue right?

Appreciate your response, happigal.

If there is always a judge that presides over the oath ceremony...then most likely, there shouldn't be any delays for your wife to attend the ceremony. Good luck! :)
