name change during citizenship

I was wondering if anyone has tried changing their name as part of the Citizenship process. Apparently, the citizenship application form N-400 does allow you to specify a new name you'd like to acquire. But the instructions for N-400 also say the following:

If you are going to take the Oath of Allegiance at a Naturalization Ceremony that is held in Court, you may ask the Court to change your name. If the Court grants your request, your new name will appear on your Certificate of Naturalization.

I was wondering if anyone has successfully tried this before and there are any goatchas with that.

Also, would there be any problem if you request a name change and USCIS is not able to grant it. Does it delay/affect the citizenship process?

As far as I know, the only gotcha is that your oath ceremony must be a "judicial" ceremony rather than an "administrative" ceremony. As a result, once you get your interview over with you may not get to go to the first possible ceremony.

Oh, and some districts don't do this.
