Name change before interview

Hello everyone!

I've been looking for information regarding a name change prior to the interview. I've found posts regarding changing the immigrants name, but not regarding the USC spouse's name change.

My wife filled out all of her paper work to sponsor me in her maiden name. I'm wondering whether she can change her ID to her married name before the interview. Will it make a difference since she is not the applicant and only the sponsor?

Maybe keep a photocopy of the ID in her maiden name and bring the new ID?

Any advice is appreciated! :)

I am in the same situation as you are... I am a USC and have applied for my husband... I wouldn't say that I am not an applicant because I did file the I-130 petition for him. Anyway, we decided that I would keep my name at least until the interview is over so as not to complicate things and cause confusion.

Hi,

My wife is about to file her naturalization(N-400) and we are just wondering either to do the name change now or not. I'm currently under H1B valid through Oct08 and wondering either to wait till my wife gets her citizenship and then I'll file for my conditional GC or shld I have her go ahead and apply for I-130 for my GC.

If she applies for name change in N-400 and file I-130 for me after she gets her citizenship and I apply for I-485 for AOS, would that be an issue?

As you guyz sailing in the same boat would greatly appreciate your reply,

Thx in advance!
Regards,
JR
