Name Change at oath ceremony

I filed N-400 and requested name change in Sept. 2005. After 2.5 years of waiting due to background check, I finally received oath notification. Instaed of the new name I put in N-400 form, I now hope to change to a different name. Do I have the chance to make the change at oath ceremony? If not, can I file an amendment to my N-400 before the ceremony? Thank you!

You could request name change during interview (if not done so on N-400) but I don't think you can do it after the interview. The thing is, they need to have name change order ready for you plus certificate with the changed name. This can not be done at oath.

You can get your name changed in local district courts. It is not that hard (depending on State you are in)

Thank you for the response. I live in Sacramento, California area. Could you tell me the process of name changing with a local district court? I oath date is April 24. I am hoping to do it before the oath ceremony so that I can get the certificate with the new name I want. I found "AO 115" form on the Internet. It is a simple one page pdf form. I paste it below. Does anybody know where I can submit this form to? To USCIS or to the local district court?

Thank you!

Sorry I am not from that region and do not know the court procedures. You can call your local district courts and ask them,

One thing I can tell you, you will not get name changed in local courts in 23 days. It takes 2-3 months in Atlanta region. You give an ad in local newspapers that has to be run for atleast 4 weeks.
The form you found says "UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT" on the top, which means it goes to district court.
Search for "dustrict court" for your state/city, get the phone no, call the clark there. They can tell you which form to fill in and how to go about the name change. Alternatively, you can contact an attorney that can handle it for you.
In either case, I don't think you can get name changed this fast. Your best bet is to get the certificate, then apply for name change, get passport with correct name, then apply for replacement of cert with correct name (if you want to, not mandatory)
hope that helps
