Name Change and Airline Tickets

Hi Guys .. I have a question regarding name change and the airlines. I have asked for name change on my N-400 and my name was changed to what I wanted it to be. Before that, I had bought an airline ticket to travel overseas next month. I have done that last year before knowing when my N-400 will be approved. My U.S. passport will have the new name and my home country passport will have the same name as on the ticket. Has anyone experienced the same circumstances?. Do I need to call the airlines and ask them to change the ticket?

I guess you'll have to travel with both passports and show your home country passport whenever they need to make sure that the name on the ticket matches the passport. Otherwise it might be tricky to change the ticket with the airline. The only requirement is that you enter the US as a citizen with a US passport, but I don't think there is a particular requirement about how you identify to the airline ticket counter or at the gate. Anyway, I would like to see if someone else has some practical experience on this matter.

Thank you Huracan. I was thinking the same way too. When I had my green card, my name on my home country passport and green card was slightly different and that did not stop me from travel. I just wanted to make sure since I am leaving for my wedding next month and I do not need any hard times from the airlines :)

Call Airlines

Just call the airlines and explain teh situation to them. We had a similar situation with my wife last year. She changed her last name and we were flying Cathay Pacific (CP). Cp gave us two choices.. either pay the change fee and issue tickets in the new name or they put an additional note on the ticket with an aka (also known as) listed. We went the aka route and there were no problems.

Thank you very much. I will try that for sure
