I have a question on Part 3 - Question 5 of N600 application for my son . Confused on what to answer.

He originally entered USA when he was 3 months old on H4 visa, travelled to India many times and subsequently got his green card in September 2005, after which he travelled to india and back to USA. He has 2 indian passports - both which expired. Currently he is a derivative US citizen and thinking of applying for a certificate of citizenship for him

Question

A> Port of entry /date - What should be answer be ? He first entry into US with a H4 visa or the latest entry with green card.

B >Passport number - His first passport or the latest ?

C > I entered as a

Appreciate any help.

I can just say what I did:
A) Port of entry of first entry (in your case the entry on H4)
B) Passport number of that entry (in your case the first passport)
C) Nonimmigrant (It would be the same in your case)

I am not 100% sure this was the right thing to do, but it didn't seem to cause any trouble in our case.

From the context of the question and considering that they ask when the child adjusted status I assume they mean the first entry.

oh oh.... I entered the latest entry in 2009... his first entry is some time in 1999. let us see what happends...I applied on 1/2 and check got cleared and NOA is not yet received.

As far as I know USCIS do not send NOA for N-600 applications as there is no "action" involved. Additionaly, the Houston DO does not accept personal checks for example. The first entry to the US is the one that should be put down on the form but I don't think it matters in your case if he arrived on H-4 visa. It looks like it takes 6 months to process an N-600...

Received a letter for acknowledgement

Thank you.

I received the acknowledge letter from Arlington, VA and receivept for the check I sent. There is a note at the bottom states that if you donot receive any correspondence in the next 160 days, pls. take an appt and check with the DO office.

Is that average processing time is 6 months?
