Hi

Here is the background

Self and wife got Naturalized and got US passport
Applied for US passport for minor child and got it based on our Naturalization certificates.
Applied for OCI for all three and got it
I had applied for my child N600 when I applied for US passport

Question

My child's N600 got approved and USCIS has sent letter for Oath ceremony for my minor child.
Is it correct that I applied for US Passport for my minor child before N 600 approval? I don;t know if the USCIS officer will question this.

Please let me know your views.

Thanks,

So you mean the State Dept screwed up by giving your child a passport? Would not they have rejected the app if there was an issue?

Your minor child became USC as soon as you naturalized. Rest is just formalities which you are closing one by one, and it does not matter which order you do them in.

Actually, calling them formalities means you HAVE to do it, but these are all optional ... required only for special cases such as travel and so on.

No problem, you did the right thing about the passport. I think for older kids they schedule a ceremony so the children can also have some memento of their citizenship, although they actually got their citizenship when you took the oath. Please let us know the details of the oath. We don't have a lot of descriptions of how that special oath for minors is done.
