N600 and some documents questions.

My brother and I are going to file our n600 but we're not sure whether we can submit a photocopy of our birth certificates or not. I read in the forum that somebody submitted a photocopy of everything including parent's marriage certificate and it was approved. But I asked some friends and they said that ALL the documents should be ORIGINAL copies. We don't have our original birth ceritificates and it's gonna take a while before we get it. So what is it that we really need? And is there a toll free number of USCIS or something that we can call? We tried the number from their website but we couldn't connect to a representative. It was all answering machine or something. So my last option is to post a thread in this forum. I'd appreciate any response or advice! Thanks!

For N-600 you definitely submit copies with the application, but be prepared to bring originals at the end of the process when you go to USCIS to pick up the certificate.
