N470: 12 months vs time spent in Canada

The N470 form clearly states (and JoeF pointed out) that you have to "have been physically present and residing in the United States for an uninterrupted period (without any absence whatsoever) of at least one year after lawful admission for permanent residence"

I was using the entry/exit stamps in my passport as a guide and calculated that I was in the US for more than a year following my 485 approval.

However, I just realized that I drove to Canada in the interim; since my my passport was not stamped on entry or exit, I lost track of this visit. I cannot remember if I had to fill any paperwork out at either border.

So, the question is - do I take the instructions literally and count the visit to Canada as an interruption, or am I eligible to file the N-470?

Thanks

PS: I have no desire to do something illegal or foolish or circumvent the law. I am trying to understand my eligibility for the application.
